YWCA Mohawk Valley Launches Annual Purple Ribbon Campaign
YWCA Mohawk Valley (YWCA MV) will conduct their Purple Ribbon
Campaign in October in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Oneida County. The Purple Ribbon Campaign is a meaningful partnership between YWCA Mohawk Valley and local businesses and organizations, designed to spread awareness about domestic violence and raise funds for the life-saving programs and services of YWCA MV.
This year, local businesses and organizations have two ways to show their support for domestic violence awareness. The first is a purple ribbon that customers can purchase for a suggested donation of $1 each at participating locations. The ribbons are then displayed within the business location during the month of October. New this year, businesses, organizations, or individuals can display a domestic violence awareness yard sign during the month of October for a donation of $200. These signs are a great way to show support for a common mission to end domestic violence in Oneida County. Participants in the Purple Ribbon Campaign will also be promoted through news media and YWCA MV’s social media platforms and website (ywcamv.org).
For more information or if you are interested in partnering with YWCA MV’s Purple Ribbon Campaign, please contact Eva at 315.732.2159 ext. 238 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for signing up is Monday, September 10.
“Each of us knows someone who has been affected by domestic violence, whether we are aware of it or not.” said Dianne Stancato, Chief Executive Officer. “With each individual we assist, the need for a greater sense of awareness and support around this issue is consistently reinforced. The Purple Ribbon Campaign spreads awareness and offers support to survivors in our community.”
All proceeds from the Purple Ribbon Campaign benefit YWCA MV’s domestic violence programs, including two emergency shelters, transitional housing, a 24-hour confidential crisis hotline, counseling, client advocacy, and prevention education. These services are vital to ending the cycle of domestic abuse.
