AIDS Memorial Quilt on Display at MVCC

Nov 15, 2017 - Sections of the internationally celebrated AIDS Memorial Quilt the 54-ton, handmade tapestry that stands as a memorial to more than 94,000 individuals lost to AIDS will be on display this December at Mohawk Valley Community College in honor of World AIDS Day (Dec. 1). This free display of The Quilt, sponsored by MVCC Student Congress, is open to the public and is being hosted by MVCCs LGBTQ Committee, which is asking the community for help in making the event even more meaningful to the Mohawk Valley.

Nov 15, 2017 - The Mohawk Valley Health Systems Central New York (CNY) Diabetes Education Program adult support group for those with diabetes and pre-diabetes, Trading Up, will host a meeting on Thursday, November 16, 2017. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at in the Community Room in the Center for Continuing Care Services at the St. Lukes Campus, 1656 Champlin Avenue, Utica.

Central New York Diabetes Education Program Recognized by Center for Disease Control and Prevention

Nov 15, 2017 - The Mohawk Valley Health Systems (MVHS) Prevent T2 diabetes prevention program, part of the Central New York Diabetes Education Program (CNY Diabetes), has been awarded full recognition from the Center for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program (DPRP) for the second year in a row. The program became the first in Oneida County to receive full recognition in November 2016.

The St. Elizabeth Campus will be illuminated by holiday lights following the Candle Lighting and Remembrance Service on Wednesday, November 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Each light represents a contribution received in honor or in memory of a loved one, to wish someone a speedy recovery, to recognize a special event or caregiver who has provided exceptional care or as a special holiday gift.

The history center will operate our satellite bookstore near the Macy's wing November 24-26, 2017 and December 9-23, 2017. A large selection of titles from our bookstore will be available for purchase. New titles in 2017 include New Hartford (Images of America, Chenango Canal: The Million Dollar Ditch, and Murder of a Herkimer County Teacher.   Returning favorites include Heavens Ditch: God Gold and Murder on the Erie Canal, Haunted Old Forge, and local history puzzles featuring colorized scenes from Utica and Oneida County.

Senior Network Health Transportation Van Gifted by MVHS Volunteers

Nov 15, 2017 - The Faxton St. Lukes Volunteer Association gifted funds to purchase a new patient transport van for Senior Network Health (SNH). The van is used for complimentary transportation to and from medical appointments for individuals in the community who are supported by SNH services. Senior Network Health is a managed long-term health care plan for individuals who need assistance with day to day health maintenance and support activities. The program supports those individuals who want to live in the comforts of their own home with the caring faces of family and friends nearby.
