9th Annual CollegeWorks Graduation

May 26, 2015 - The 9th Annual CollegeWorks graduation ceremony for the Class of 2015 will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, May 28 in the IT Building Theater on MVCC’s Utica Campus. Eleven students will graduate from this Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter program, and eleven will receive “moving up” certificates. Lynda Ford Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to high school students entering CollegeWorks in the fall who have demonstrated strong work ethic and motivation to find competitive employment.

SERIES SQUARED AT 1 GAME APIECE AFTER COMETS LOSE 4-2

May 26, 2015 - UTICA, N.Y. – The Western Conference Finals are now all tied up at one game apiece after the Utica Comets dropped Game 2 to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday night at The Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Brendan Gaunce (1-1-2) and Sven Baertshci (1-0-1) found the only Comets goals of the night with two assists going to Cal O’Reilly (0-2-2).

May 11, 2015 - UTICA, N.Y. – For the second time in as many nights, overtime was necessary to settle the game between the Utica Comets and Oklahoma City Barons. This time, overtime wielded much better results for the home team after a tip-in goal gave the Comets a 2-1 victory over the Barons at the Utica Memorial Auditorium on Friday night. The Comets have now evened up the series 1-1 with a win in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

Local Riders Commemorate 20th Anniversary of Inaugural Ride to Washington DC

May 11, 2015 - Utica, NY – Some participants of The Ride for Missing Children will embark on a 6-day, 400-mile, 4-state journey the day after The Ride for Missing Children – CNY. This group is participating in the Ride of Hope, a bicycle ride to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the inaugural Team Sara ride in 1995.

In 1995, Seven men rode their bikes from Utica to Washington, D.C. in order to raise awareness about the plight of missing children and to bring a message of safety to the people they met along the way. They arrived on the Capitol steps on May 25th, the first National Missing Children's Day. Two years later, inspired by that first ride, a group of 43 riders rode their bicycles 100 miles from Albany, NY to Utica, NY with the same message of safety and awareness. Thus began the Ride for Missing Children.
