May 24, 2016 - Movie: Amelia (2009) With Guest Speaker Marolyn Wilson. This films follows the life of aviatrix Amelia Earhart, best known for being the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and her mysterious disappearance in 1937. Marolyn Wilson, aviatrix and co-owner of Holland Farms, will speak about women and air racing, specifically the 1929 Women's Air Derby. Marolyn flew from Santa Monica, CA to Cleveland, OH in the 50th anniversary re-creation of this race in 1979. The film is rated PG and is 1 hour 51 minutes long. Earhart's Oneida County Connections: Earhart made an emergency landing near Trenton Road in 1929, and Earhart's sister taught at the Country Day School in New Hartford

Community Foundation helps The Arc host happy campers this summer

May 24, 2016 - The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter, and The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. have recently partnered to make an impact in the community that will help many children and adults with developmental disabilities attend summer camp this year. The $25,000 investment made by The Foundation will help The Arc replace the septic system at the Charles B. Wolken Memorial Day Camp, located on Hacadam Road in Frankfort. The Friends of the Arc Foundation, Inc. is also providing a matching $25,000 investment to cover all additional costs associated with this project.

years ago, Rucker, a Marine Corps veteran, was homeless and believed a college degree
impossible. That belief since has vanished. Juan will graduate Thursday and receive his associates degree in
business administration. He credits the support, flexibility and encouragement from USC staff
and faculty to this significant life change.
