ANNUAL CHAMBER EVENTS
Business of the Year Awards
The Business of the Year Awards honors member companies and organizations for staying power, commitment to the Mohawk Valley region and Greater Utica Chamber involvement. The award is given out in four categories: For-Profit Business with 50 or Fewer Employees, For-Profit Business with over 50 employees, Not-for-Profit Organization with 50 of Fewer Employees and Not-for-Profit Organization with over 50 Employees. This event is held at a member banquet facility.
Business Person of the Year at the Annual Membership Meeting
The Business Person of the Year Award is given to an individual who has shown exemplary service to the Chamber of Commerce or community. The individual must be a Chamber member, or an employee of a Chamber member, in good standing. This award is given out every year during the Chamber’s Annual Membership Meeting. During this meeting, members are treated to a video production of the Chamber's yearly accomplishments and outgoing board members are recognized. This event is held at a member banquet facility.
Chamber Community Business Expo
The Chamber Community Business Expo is an annual event with a broad range of exhibitors that features the best of business products, business services, travel and leisure, in the Mohawk Valley, all under one roof. The Expo is free to attend and open to Chamber member businesses and organizations as well as the entire Greater Utica community.
Business After Hours
Business After Hours, (BAH), are events which allow our members to meet and mingle with other members, establish relationships, and find potential business leads. Business After Hours are held at member businesses or organizations, which allows them to showcase their products and services, and occurs once a month.
Speed Networking puts members and not-yet members across the table from a counterpart, customer, colleague or friend they did not realize they had. This event is designed for those whose business success depends on word-of-mouth referrals and marketing. Structured and fast paced, Speed Networking allows participants to interact with other professionals one-on-one, for a set period of time. Participants walk away with more new contacts in less than 2 hours then some make in 6 months. This event is held at a member location.
Choo-Choo for Charity Golf Tournament
The Annual Choo-Choo for Charity Golf Tournament at Thendara Golf Club brings the community together to raise funds for the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, which in turn aids our local charities. Golfers board the Adirondack Scenic Railroad in the morning, for a beautiful ride up north, play 18 holes on the spectacular Thendara Golf Club, and ride the train back in the evening.
Gore Mountain Ski Trip
Members enjoy a bus trip up to Gore Mountain for a wonderful day of skiing and networking, with a stop on the way home to the Melody Lodge for a superior dinner and great conversation. This has become a very popular annual event.
A celebrated summertime networking get-together, the Chamber Clambake takes place every summer at a member outdoor facility or restaurant.
Saranac Thursday Volunteer
Every year, F.X. Matt Brewery hosts Saranac Thursdays, from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. This is a very popular community event that features live music, local hand-crafted beverages, and a portion of the proceeds for the year, go towards the local United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area. Every Thursday, a different organization volunteers to “pour” for the evening, and for the last few years, the Chamber has had the pleasure of volunteering on the season’s kick-off Thursday. Our Members can network with each other, those in the community and also help give to the United Way.

The Chamber hosts a variety of seminars throughout the year. Some occur annually, some pop up when the timing is right. Often, the Chamber partners with a presenting member or the Mohawk Valley Small Business Council Partners. Some of the seminars offered include, but are not limited to:

State of the County Address
Every year, the Chamber hosts this event that is addressed by the Oneida County Executive. This event is open to the community and takes place at a member banquet facility.
Events Registration Policy:
- Chamber events are deductible as a business expense, not as a donation.
- Refunds can only be given for cancellations received in writing 48 hours prior to the event. (Exceptions are the Annual Meeting, Choo Choo and Business of the Year, which require a 5 day cancellation notification.)
- No shows for all events will be billed. (Except for Business After Hours)
- By attending this event, you hereby grant Greater Utica Chamber permission to interview me and/or to use my likeness in photographs/video in any and all of its publications and in any and all other media, whether now known or hereafter existing, controlled by Greater Utica Chamber, in perpetuity, and for other use by the Chamber. I will make no monetary or other claim against the Greater Utica Chamber for the use of the interview and/or the photographs/video.
